Nate Jolley

Nate is an inspired young filmmaker currently living on Haida Gwaii, British Columbia. While receiving his degree in Social Justice from the University of Victoria, Nate developed an interest in film that has become the driving force in his life. Upon graduation, Nate founded Autonomous Productions, began directing and co-edited a short film on First Nations forest management for the Council Of The Haida Nation.

At the same time he also co-created the "Masset Anti-racism Youth Video Project". His vision for this project was to explore local racial tension while teaching a group of youth from the high school how to shoot and edit their own short documentaries. The objective was to empower, engage, and mobilize local youth around issues that affect them and their communities and at the same time introduce them to meaningful career and cultural opportunities. The project was a success and created a great deal of momentum for the young filmmakers and the community. It also served as a template for Project Connect.

Nate has been adopted as a member of the Haida Nation and is currently working on a variety of projects as a mentor and on a professional basis.
